Since 1st October 2013, it has been the legal responsibility of employers to ensure adequate first aid provision in the workplace.
All organisations must have a sufficient number of qualified first aiders to meet their specific needs at all times.
This provision must be both adequate and appropriate based on the nature of the workplace and its risks.
